Raising Freshwater Prawn
Its a good time to start throwing the cast net to see how your Freshwater prawn are growing. try to catch about 25 prawn and weigh them out and then mutiply that number by the number of Freshwater Prawn stocked. Freshwater prawn will generally consume around 3 percent of their body weight. So this will give you a good idea if you are feeding enough or need to feed more. Average feed rates for 1 acre pond in a season between 2 and 3 tons of feed. If ph begins to rise to high cut down on feed. Do not over feed.

Well the heat is on make sure you keep a close eye on your pond ph. With feed rates increasing and temperatures rising your ph will also begin to rise. Ph in prawn ponds should remain below 10. If your Ph does begin to climb there are several options available. You could try Aqua shade available at many feed stores. When you add this it shades the pond and blocks out some of the sunlight. This help decrease the algae build up and helps cool the water a little. Hope this help.
